Dive into the rich flavors of our local waters with this hands-on cooking class featuring some of Northern California's prized seafood. Perfect for seafood lovers and home cooks looking to expand their repertoire with sustainable, local ingredients.

In this class, we'll work with three stellar fish from our coastal waters:

  • Black Cod (Sablefish)
  • CA Halibut
  • Vermilion Rockfish

You'll learn to prepare three dishes that highlight the unique characteristics of each fish:

  • Miso Glazed Black Cod: Discover how to perfectly balance sweet and savory in this melt-in-your-mouth dish.
  • Halibut Crudo with Coconut Milk: Understand how preparing raw fish can create harmonious flavor combinations.
  • Rice Crusted Rockfish with Lemon and Olives: Learn the technique for achieving a crispy crust while keeping the fish moist and tender.


We will guide you through selecting and handling fresh fish, sharing tips on what to look for at your local fish counter or farmers market. We'll discuss sustainable fishing practices in Northern California and how to make environmentally conscious seafood choices.

Throughout the class, you'll pick up key skills such as creating complementary flavor profiles for different types of fish and achieving various textures through different cooking methods.

At the end of the class, we'll sit down to enjoy our oceanic feast together, comparing notes and sharing stories of great seafood experiences around the Bay.
